What is Graphic Design?

Graphic design is a craft where professional designers solve visual communication problems for your business. Every designer has their own approach to the work. Designers may specialize in web, print, or mobile app designs, logos, typography, and more. They all agree on one thing, however: graphic design is not a competition but a collaboration between designer and customer.

Graphic design is the art of visual communication and problem-solving through the use of visual elements. It moves beyond basic drawing or the use of graphics software to true visual communications, which requires empathy for the audience and a strong sense of what it is that you are trying to communicate. We can say Graphic design is a comprehensive method of communication that involves the clear, accurate, and objective expression of information by the use of words, images, or other symbols.

While its appearance is not the only factor in graphic design, designers must also consider how they want their designs to make users feel.

Graphic Design is a very broad category of many disciplines that when originally thought about, seem very dissimilar. Each discipline has its own methods, goals, and rules of operation. However, when you look at the bigger picture, you see how these seemingly different branches are connected and an ideal form emerges within the realm of graphic design. It becomes clear that graphic design is not just a set of various disciplines or occupations; it is an art form. Art conveys messages that deal with emotions. This is all the more true in graphic design because it is mainly meant to be seen rather than felt through touch and sound.
